I am a Robotics PhD student at the Center for Robotics and Intelligent Machines at Georgia Tech; currently a member of the Cognitive Robotics Lab and formerly also a member of the Humanoid Robotics Lab. I am currently advised by Prof. Henrik Christensen (previously by Prof. Mike Stilman). My research interests focus on generalizable robot manipulation. I investigate how to enable robots to perform primary manipulation tasks (pick-and-place, handovers) using objects for which little or not information is available ahead of time. I am about to graduate this semester (Spring 2016) so I am on the job market and looking forward to meeting new robots! (and fellow researchers, naturally).

News:

  • April 25th, 2016: Crichton now pours to different locations by efficiently selecting his grasps! (video on the research section).
  • April 8th, 2016: Crichton learned to pour from 3 different objects! (video on the research section).
  • January 18th, 2016: Trained Crichton to recognize 42 objects for his final manipulation experiments. I am a proud robot Mom (video on the research section).
  • December 2-9th, 2015: Visited Prof. Ben Amor at ASU and got to play with their adorable Baxter (couple of videos in my research section)
  • October 29th, 2015: The Compiler very kindly made a profile about me and Crichton. Thanks Mr. Sharp for making us questionably famous for a few days! :)
  • October 19th, 2015: Hi Houston! Delivered a talk on robot manipulation at the Grace Hopper Conference (AI/Robotics track).
  • October 17th, 2015: Thesis proposal done! Next: Defense in Spring 2016.
  • September 20th, 2015: Presented our paper in manipulation benchmarks at ISRR 2015! (I fell in love with Italy)
  • March 18th, 2015: We had to sent Crichton's right elbow drive back for repair. Crichton is temporarily crippled :(
  • March 1st, 2015: Submitted to IROS, crossing fingers! (Update: Did anybody say extension, WHAT?)
  • January 30th, 2015: Our paper in grasping objects based on superquadrics was accepted for ICRA 2015. Seattle here we go!
  • November 2014: Traveled to Humanoids (courtesy of a Kanako Miura Travel Fellowship) to present our work in handover tasks
